First communication with the client

Communication with the clients is a key point in creating a product video. The right dialogue will make the customer want to work exactly with you
Obviously, the quality of the content and the final result are the most important criteria, but if the communication is difficult or unpleasant, clients are very unlikely to spend their time and energy on you, even if your works are very beautiful. Communication is a whole philosophy, art and psychology,
which you need to learn all your life, but I want to share with you some points in order to work more effectively with the client,
his trust, and which will show your professionalism.

1. Tone of voice

Your tone of voice is more important than it seems to be. A soothing voice on a subconscious level automatically enchants a person and helps in building quality relationships. It is very important to always keep a calm voice, no matter what! Even if the client is in a rush or not having a good day, or probably there is a fire in the room and the news broadcast hurricane, ALWAYS keep a calm voice and be polite! This is the first impression a client makes of you.

2. The power of video!

The first communication with a client is mostly over the phone. At this stage, it is really important to gain the interest of our client, and as soon as possible to move to a real meeting. The quick meeting decision will show that your client is serious about you. During the phone conversation you should express the full power of the video. You must show the client, how important are the videos as a presentation of products or an event, convince him that people are tired of reading long texts and it is easier for them to watch a 30 sec video. You should provide the information, that after watching a high-quality video, 65% of people will switch
to their website. Get the client interested in creating a video, then get down to the details.

3. What is your goal?

During a telephone conversation, do not overload the client with information. He must understand that you are the professional and you will do everything to embody his task. You can start with a few main questions, and later, during another conversation move on to other details.
One of the first questions should be «What is the purpose of your video? What do you want to get out of it?» Depending on the mission of this product, you will understand in which direction you should move and how to build your dialogue further. Also you must know what terms and conditions are you working with. There is a bog difference between commercial and volunteer project. The client's answer can be immediately recorded in the brief, and the brief can be resent to the client at the end of your conversation, so he has time to overthink and probably re-answer some questions.

4. Let the client know what is possible and what is not!

It is better to slow down some fantasies as soon as possible, and start offering alternatives.Even if you know that the client may have a very large budget, but «a real explosion in the city center» will be very hard to achieve, so it would be better to offer CGI or other alternative.

5. Deadline

An obvious nuance that should be discussed immediately in any business is deadlines. Listen to the client and if it seems impossible to you don't hesitate to mention it. It is not necessary to overload the client for the first conversation! This conversation is more of an introduction, where you need to gain the client's interest, show your professionalism and arrange a real meeting in order to draw up a brief together and show yourself from another side. If a real meeting is not possible, agree on the next call, and go through the brief in this format.
Communication is the main weapon of a producer. The ability to charm people and negotiate is something that must be practiced every day throughout your life. No talent can replace the talent of communication.
Master, communicate with different people, try to be the best version of yourself.
Good luck!
